Trump’s campaign manager, Cory Lewandowski has been charged with misdemeanour battery due to an altercation he had with a reporter on March 8, 2016. According to Donald Trump, he is saying that the charges are false and have no substance. Lewandowski denies that he had an altercation of any kind and that the reporter involved has distorted the facts. Both Trump and Lewandowski also posted their comments and feelings on social media. They continued to deny all the rumours about Lewandowski having pushed the reporter until he was arrested and charged. This could seriously hurt the Trump campaign although Trump is acting like nothing has happened and nothing has changed. He continues to support his campaign manager.
This news was highlighted by CNN and Trump attended news conferences continually saying the charges are unfounded and he would continue to support Lewandowski, no matter what. Trumps also raised questions about the reporter having suffered any injury saying, “Where are the bruises?” and “Why didn’t she shout?” He, of course, was placing the blame on the reporter and accused other reporters of exaggerating the facts. He also said that the security officers who were present did not see any altercation nor did they see anyone being shoved or hurt by anyone.
It will be interesting to see what happens next and if, indeed, there are witnesses willing to come forward to say what they saw, if anything.
