Women have great power in the world today, but very often they are unappreciated. The wage gap is no longer a secret, and although there are many women who hold professional positions, they are often overlooked when it comes to promotions. The Law Heckathon is designed to promote the professional women and to help them find work in the field of law.
The competition was designed by Diversity Lab and Stanford Law School, and it is probably one of the most interesting events that promotes women as lawyers. The founders of the competition believe that if women have the chance to be heard, they will conquer the world, and they are giving them the opportunity and vehicle to do this.
Lawyers from across the country will work together on specific cases, trying to find solutions for very complicated cases. This work will last for months and the final results will be presented in front of a jury that will choose the winner. The team that wins the competition will be granted an amount of money to be given to a non-profit organization meant to help women regardless of where they live. In other words, women are working to help other women across the globe.
Even though the competition was not very popular in the first years, now many companies now want to participate. As more and more women have the courage to ask for their rights, soon the gender gap will disappear. What are needed is strong women fighting for their rights and dreams.
