Miss Yingying wakes from coma & accuses boyfriend

A Chinese woman who woke up from a coma in May last year has accused her boyfriend stating that it was he who put her in such state. This turned this once-hailed hero into a “villain”. When Lin Yingyin (22) was in a coma for 8 months, her 24 year-old boyfriend, Liu Fenghe, committed himself to take care of her for the rest of her life if necessary.

Fenghe even got a loan to help pay 200,000 yuan (30,700 US dollars) for her medical bills. This attracted media attention which called him a hero.

Ms Yingying was taken home by her parents in February, 2015 to recover and she regained consciousness in May. She was unaware that her boyfriend was being treated as a hero due to his taking care of her. Then she surprised everyone when she said he did so not out of love but out of guilt.

Ms Yingying said that it was her boyfriend who had put her in such vegetative state in the first place by hitting her repeatedly on the head with a heavy rolling pin. This was a punishment he inflicted on her for letting a batch of bread burn at a small bakery they ran together.

Not only did she accuse him of putting her in a coma due to injuries but also of continuous abuses.  She said she had not reported him due to intimidation and threats that he would kill her if she ever told anyone about it. Ms Yingying says that when she regained consciousness, it was her father that motivated her to finally stand up against her boyfriend.

Doctors examined her injuries and concluded that they were similar to those caused by a person falling from a five-story building.

Her father said he has informed the police about the accusations.
